Overview

SimCap Louisiana is still evolving and fully defining its organizational structure. The Charter establishes a Coordinating Committee to manage the affairs of SimCap Louisiana on behalf of its Members. The Coordinating Committee consists of the: Chair, Co-Chair, and Secretary. The two co-founders of SimCap Louisiana are currently serving in the role of Interim Chair and Interim Co-Chair, until an official election is held.

Mr. Christopher Melson is the Program Manager of Tran-SET, a transportation center comprised of 11 institutions across 5 states (AR, LA, NM, OK, and TX) that is led and administered by the Louisiana State University. He previously work for the Federal Highway Administration at the Turner-Fairbank Highway Research Center. He developed and managed their Analysis, Modeling, and Simulation research program area, where he managed contracts and performed in-house research. Mr. Melson received his Master’s Degree in Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and his Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Wyoming.

Dr. Stephen Mensah is a traffic engineer and transportation safety expert, with over 10 years of experience in geometrics and intelligent transportation systems. Dr. Mensah is passionate about discovering emerging technology and research and how they can be applied to improve safety and design. He has perform safety analyses for clients across the U.S. Gulf Region and has been a member of the TRB Committee on the “Application of Emerging Technologies to Design and Construction”. Dr. Mensah enjoys spending time with his children, playing soccer, and helping communities in Ghana develop infrastructure for sanitation and education.
